SPANDAN FOUNDATION is a vibrant socio-cultural organization, carved out of creative zeal, with philanthropic mission, governed by transparent and inclusive democratic values, meant to bring joy to all its members and society at large by promoting festivals, cultural events, creative endeavours and charitable causes.
Spandan means beating of the heart. Spandan Foundation was started in 2013 by like-minded and ‘like-hearted’ people who wanted to build a vibrant socio-cultural platform with a philanthropic mission. Within a short span of time, Spandan Foundation has created a mark in the cultural and social landscape of Mumbai.
Since inception, we have always championed socially relevant causes including women empowerment, elderly care, support for the destitute, conserving nature, and so on. We have actively worked towards supporting victims of natural calamities – like helping flood victims of Maharashtra (2021) and rehabilitating survivors of cyclone-hit areas of West Bengal (2020)
We are a Bengali association at heart. Stemming from that emotion, one of our priority is to uphold our culture and work towards spreading awareness about it. However, our philanthropic efforts are secular. We do not distinguish between any race, cast, creed. We spend almost 30% of our income on social causes that benefit the people who need it. We promote Indian culture and it may not only be limited to Bengali culture. We are focused on our social, cultural and philanthropic purpose to make a valuable difference to the society at large. Spandan believes in giving equal rights to all members. We are a transparent and honest organization built on the foundation of democracy.

• Since inception, Spandan Foundation has always adopted socially relevant cause as a theme for the year.
• Relevant causes such as: Woman Empowerment, Revival of Heritage Arts & Craft, Respect for Elders, Caring for Orphans, Support for the destitute, Enabling the Differently Abled, Nurturing Nature Conservation and Heartbeat of Hope!
• Various educational and cultural activities like Book Fair and Theatre Fest.
• Collaboration with and Support to NGO’s associated with the shortlisted cause.
• Extended a helping hand for the Flood victims in Kashmir (2014) and Maharashtra (2021), Cyclone Victims in WestBengal (2020) and Pandemic Affected people of Mumbai (2020).

I am in Spandan since 2013, my best memory from Spandan was the Book Fair, it was a first of its kind at that scale in Mumbai.
Spandan truly lives and believes in inclusiveness. From celebrations to charity Spandan empowers and inspires everyone to participate. Its a cultural mileau spanning communities and people. Spandan joy and happiness that reverberates at Spandan engulfs everyone who is associated with it.

I have many fond memories that I’ve made in this club, in 2018 when I became a member I was introduced to so many people, worked with them, gained experience and learned how much effort, sleepless nights go to make Durja Puja successful. So this is my most memorable moment in Spandan. I’m sure I’ll be making more memorable memories here. The atmosphere is quite positive and friendly here, everybody is free to give their opinion and all the opinions are valued.

This is Subhanita, a friendly, Co-operative, simple in nature home-maker from Powai and a Spandan member since may 2013. Me and my husband love socialising with Spandanites, and celebrate each and every festivals. All the Spandan members are very friendly, all are part of a single big Spandan family.
While all the events are memorable, but recent tour at Malshej Ghat by our Spandan Ladies gang together was the best amongst all.
